Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, the oldest daughter of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June Shannon, has died following a brief battle with cancer. She was 29.
Cardwell passed on Saturday, December 9. Shannon broke the news via Instagram the following day.
“With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us,” she wrote alongside a family photo. “She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM. She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today.”
Mama June concluded, “We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family doing this difficult time.”
Anna Cardwell Suffered From Stage 4 Adrenal Carcinoma
Anna Cardwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January. TMZ reports that the cancer had already spread to her lung, liver, and kidney by that time. According to PEOPLE, doctors discovered the disease after Anna began complaining of abdominal pain.
Cardwell started chemotherapy in March and was still undergoing treatment as of October, despite being diagnosed as terminal. On Friday (Dec. 8), Mama June announced that Cardwell’s health had taken a turn and shared that she would be taking a break from social media as she helped her daughter and family through the transition.
Anna Cardwell appeared alongside her family in several episodes of TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Aside from Mama June, Cardwell is survived by her two children, Kylie and Kaitlyn, and her three sisters, Alana, Lauryn, and Jessica.
This is a breaking story.
